Healthy Movers 2026!

The network has been selected to participate in the Youth Sport Trust (YST) and London Marathon pilot programme. This initiative is designed to increase daily physical activity among pupils by encouraging an additional 10 minutes of sport or movement each day.

Regular physical activity has been shown to have a significant impact on children’s health and learning. Evidence from the Youth Sport Trust indicates that just 10 minutes of additional daily activity can improve concentration, behaviour, and overall wellbeing, while contributing to the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity per day for children. Nationally, fewer than 50% of primary-aged children currently meet these guidelines, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions such as this programme.

Ten schools across the network have committed to the programme for a period of 18 months. With the support of the School Games Organiser (SGO), the programme aims to embed daily physical activity opportunities for pupils from nursery through to Year 6, ensuring an inclusive and sustainable approach to improving physical activity levels across the whole school community.

Yesterday, representatives from all 10 schools attended a dedicated training session to formally launch the programme and begin their journey. The training provided schools with practical guidance, resources, and strategies to support effective implementation and long-term impact.
