Thank You!
A Message from Glyn Davies, Network Manager
As we come to the end of another fantastic academic year, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to every one of our member schools for your continued support, commitment and partnership.
A huge congratulations and well done to every pupil who has taken part in our wide range of PE, physical activity and school sport programmes this year. Whether you attended a festival, represented your school in competition, developed your leadership skills or simply discovered a new love of being active, you should be incredibly proud of your achievements.
Congratulations also go to all of the schools that participated in our competitions throughout the year. A special mention must go to those schools that progressed to represent Southwark at the School Games Finals. Your performances, determination and sportsmanship have been a credit to both your schools and our borough.
I would also like to thank every Headteacher, PE Coordinator, teacher, support staff member and volunteer for the enthusiasm, passion and dedication you continue to show in ensuring that Physical Education, physical activity and school sport remain at the heart of school life. Your commitment has helped create meaningful opportunities that positively impact thousands of young people every single day.
This year has been another record-breaking one for the PE & School Sports Network, with over 28,000 children and adults participating in our programmes across Southwark and beyond. This incredible achievement reflects the strength of our partnerships and our shared ambition to provide every child with the opportunity to enjoy, participate and succeed through sport.
I am also incredibly proud that this year the PE & School Sports Network was recognised by the Youth Sport Trust as being within the top 3% nationally for the opportunities we provide in Physical Education and school sport for children across Southwark. This recognition was further reinforced when we were invited by the Youth Sport Trust to officially open National School Sports Week 2026—a tremendous honour and a testament to the outstanding work taking place across our network.
As we look ahead, we recognise that the national landscape for our much-loved subject remains uncertain. Physical Education and school sport continue to evolve, and schools are awaiting greater clarity around future priorities and direction. While there are still questions to be answered, I remain optimistic that the coming months will bring further information to help shape the future of PE. Whatever changes lie ahead, the PE & School Sports Network will continue to work alongside our schools, championing the importance of high-quality Physical Education and ensuring that every child has access to the opportunities they deserve.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Bacon's College for continuing to host the PE & School Sports Network, and in particular to Principal Mr Wilson for his unwavering support and commitment to our work.
Thank you once again for another exceptional year. The achievements of this year belong to every school, every member of staff and every young person who has been part of our network. Together, we have continued to demonstrate the power of PE, physical activity and school sport to inspire, develop and transform lives, and I look forward to building on this success in the year ahead.
